Toolbox Austin Lunch with Michael Taaffe

Standout safety for the Texas Longhorns, Michael rose from walk-on to become one of the program’s most respected leaders. A native of Austin and graduate of Westlake High School, Taaffe earned a scholarship after joining Texas as a walk-on in 2021 and went on to become an All-American defensive back and First-Team All-SEC selection.

Known for his relentless work ethic and leadership, he finished his Longhorn career with more than 190 tackles and multiple interceptions while helping anchor one of the nation’s top defenses.

In 2025 he received the prestigious Wuerffel Trophy, college football’s premier honor recognizing excellence in athletics, academics, and community service, reflecting his impact both on and off the field.
